Internships Available: Winter/Spring 2025

The Ancram Center for the Arts is seeking interns eager to learn and gain experience in tech, production and administration and be a part of the team making our season happen.

Internships are open to current college or university students, recent college graduates, high school grads or those going into their senior year, as well as adults of all ages. Interns work approximately 25 hours a week (sometimes more), and will be directly involved in the running of a small, but vibrant performing arts organization.

In addition, interns are provided training, workshops and professional development opportunities. A modest travel stipend is included and, depending upon the academic program, college credit can be arranged.

Why intern with us?

The Ancram Center for the Arts is a small, non-profit performing arts organization, with a focus on producing high-quality professional contemporary theater in an intimate, rural setting. Because we’re small, you will have the opportunity to work in many different capacities, with a high level of responsibility. Yes, from time to time you may be called upon to help with operational tasks, from helping to organize backstage areas to guiding patrons in our parking field prior to a show.  But, you will spend the bulk of your internship assisting in all aspects of the running of a small theater company presenting innovative performances, including the development of new work, and a robust slate of community programs. Here is what this opportunity has to offer you:

  • Hands-on experience that will be a great foundation to your professional career, in the theater (or whatever field you choose).

  • The development of skills that will allow your professional resume to stand out.

  • The opportunity to sharpen arts administration skills.

  • Free tickets to every Ancram Center event.

  • January 13-May 31; Approx 25 hrs/week (this can be flexible).

  • $750 stipend.

  • High School and/or College credit (when applicable).

  • Can be in-person, hybrid, or remote.

About us:

The Ancram Center envisions meaningful encounters through the performing arts that forge connection and community. We believe performances—conceived, created and experienced in our small, intimate space—offer the possibility for real exchange, instill a sense of place and contribute to healthier and happier lives. Our hall fosters an audience’s immersion with a performance to make it complete and the potential for personal growth that the arts provide. We produce, present or host diverse theatrical performances and offer free theater-making and storytelling workshops to residents and over 300 4th, 5th and 6th graders each season.

Who you should be:

We are seeking interns who are interested in being a part of a company, and who respect our mission. Interns need not possess any specific skills, though we are grateful for individuals who do have experience in the theater. We want interns who have a passion for creating theater, and who are not afraid of hard work.

Next Steps:

If this is of interest, we’d like to hear from you. Please submit a resumé and letter of interest to info@ancramcenter.org.
