Ancram Opera House's storytelling series, REAL PEOPLE REAL STORIES is a beloved community event held twice a year. After shifting the 2020 program to an online format, we are excited to announce the return to an in-person presentation of authentic personal narratives told by four local residents LIVE at The Hilltop Barn at Roe-Jan Park in Hillsdale.

Introducing the Summer 2021 storytellers (clockwise, from upper left):

Ron Bixby,  the owner of Little Apple Cidery in Hillsdale, NY, will be sharing how he survived WWII without having been in it.

Mark Senak who resides in Copake, NY, tells a story about his experience discovering that sometimes nature has a way of taking something we already know on an intellectual level and making the point stick on an emotional one.

Joe Gosler grew up in the Netherlands during WWII , but now he and his wife divide their time between NYC and Ancramdale, NY. Gosler will share his experience of the impact of war on a toddler, hidden during WWII in the Netherlands.

Samara Klein is a bookworm who lives in Housatonic, MA with her partner, daughter, dog, and a few other critters. Klein’s story is about life lessons garnered from school bus drivers.

Have a story you’d like to tell as part of an upcoming edition? Contact Paul Ricciardi at paul@ancramcenter.org. No prior storytelling experience needed; each storyteller receives 5-6 hours of individual training and rehearsal time to craft a compelling narrative and to hone the telling of their story.
